Centrist is picking and choosing from each side, not doing a little of everything.
I'm also picking and choosing from each side, which is why I'm a leftist. Does that make me a centrist?
any leftist progression which is enforced into society is suddenly known as a conservative tradition, while old conservative traditions that change are known as liberal progressions.
this is why i call myself a "centrist". some of my ideals are in a progression from what currently is(liberal), while some are in enforcing a tradition (or more often, a law), from something that isn't yet. (conservative)
from my experience, so many self proclaimed right wing and left wing people are so polar among each other when discussing ideas which are not their typical liberal/conservative talking points, whereas centrists are usually the science based kind of people who are open minded to what both the left or the right are arguing and trying their best to come to the most mutual agreement humanly possible.
people saying centrists don't exist or whatever other completely out of this world bullshit they say is the EXACT same thing as saying "leftists will ALWAYS be looking for something else to progress or change" or "rightists will ALWAYS be looking for another thing to turn into a tradition".
it pretends that there is no ideals or end goals to a centrist, so there must not be any goals or ideals to liberalism or conservatism either! hey guys, what is even politics again?!
if you can justify anything such as why random murder shouldn't be allowed, you are suddenly EXTREMELY right wing to a guy who loves killing people, and you're EXTREMELY left wing to a society where random killing was previously traditionally (conservatively) allowed.
this leaves the democratically favourable position of not wanting random murder to be allowed, somewhere in the center, just like every other democratic ideal i would strongly argue.
just look at something like free thought.
just about every reasonable person would say we should have the freedom to think whatever we want to in our heads. where are all these people? on the left? the right?
they're everywhere and nowhere. they ARE the center..
this idea of the "path of least resistance" perception of centrists pisses me the fuck off, because funnily enough i'm the most politically confronting and resistive person i've ever met in person and largely online, purely due to centrism believe it or not.

the dogshit stupid takes i see in this community are just proving that nobody here has actually ever encountered a centrist
please do tell me about your mythical centrist
This comment does not inspire confidence in your willingness to actually read it.
Did their comment hurt your feels?
Bad faith bro strikes again
I’m excited you think of me enough to give me a nickname!
It’s so cute, I can picture our future together.
I haven’t encountered many unicorns either, just horses with ice cream cones on their head. Still looking though.
I haven't encountered Rhino's in person but have seen many online. I think that might be what you're looking for.
ah yes, and i haven't found any actually independent thinking liberals and conservatives. just people who are checking their favourite left/right wing political commentators twitter to regurgitate what they say.
And always picking genocide from the political salad bar.
