Antisemitism ≠ antizionism, lemmy.ml (speaking from experience) has waaaaay harsher and stricter moderation that something like ee or world, they straight up hard-remove words from comments, an antisemite would be banned on sight.
Due to the root word Semite, the term is prone to being invoked as a misnomer by those who interpret it as referring to racist hatred directed at all "Semitic people" (i.e., those who speak Semitic languages, such as Arabs, Assyrians, and Arameans). This usage is erroneous; the compound word antisemitismus (lit. 'antisemitism') was first used in print in Germany in 1879 as a "scientific-sounding term" for Judenhass (lit. 'Jew-hatred'), and it has since been used to refer to anti-Jewish sentiment alone.
It's like saying red pandas are actual pandas just because they have "panda" in the name.
And we trust all old German "Scientific" terminology when it comes to Jewish people? Or any people for that matter?
Doesn't change that hate is bad no matter what name it is given. And killing in the name of that hate is even worse.
It is insane that people that share cultural histories with each other and pray to the same God would hate each other so much. It is mostly a disagreement between how long God continued to communicate to the people on earth.
