Not sure why you're being downvoted. That statement comes across as a 13-year-old writing a suicide letter before swallowing five aspirin.
Perhaps because text is terrible for conveying intent, dunno. I meant it this cannot not be a small transgression, more like a dramatic emotionally intense event, if it has resulted in people resenting him.
Could be a translation thing but to hurt someone or do something at the magnitude for them to actively resent you... is a pretty strong word in my part of the globe.
