Doctor Who: Today is the tenth anniversary of "Deep Breath" (August 23, 2014), the first episode of the Twelfth Doctor (Peter Capaldi). Clip from the episode
I grew up watching it with my mother but we kind of fell off because Capaldi didn't seem as good as Matt Smith, then again, replacing Matt Smith was always going to be difficult.
I was always "I hate this new doctor/no whait I love him" type of person but I have to be honest, and I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I never liked Clara. I tryied so hard to like her but after a while I just stop watching and never came back. Not because of the doctor but because I never rooted for her.
I ended up Googling which episode Clara left and watching from the one after that. I love her actress but the character was unlikeable for me, too. Bill's era is pretty good imho, and I'm working myself up to the next doctor because I'm slightly dreading it after all the bad stuff I've heard. I did watch the specials with David Tennant because anything with Donna Noble is always, always mandatory for me.
If you liked 10 and Donna, you should absolutely consider watching the specials.
I've really come to appreciate the second half of series 7 (late Matt Smith) through the end of series 8 (early Capaldi). Bit more hit and miss for me after that but what a run.
