What a coincidence -- I was just about to post a comment about how I'm not fond of these. Blackout unis work for some teams, but KU's colors are so bright it doesn't feel right to me
I kind of expected this to be evenly matched through the first half, but so far (end of the first) it's all been Kansas. Let's see if Illinois comes back later in the game. It's hard to count out Bret (unless he's coaching at Arkansas...)
Really good drive there, although jump passes in the red zone always make me a little nervous since I've seen them picked off way too many times. Good for Illinois that one paid off
I'm a day late, but I just got to watch the first half finally that I recorded last night. My thoughts:
Love the black out uniforms. The "War 'Hawk" is my favorite Jayhawk logo of all time. I'm not sure we would change todays Jayhawk to do something like that if a war broke out now...
Offense was clicking! Jalen was making plays that Bean just couldn't do. Keeping things alive, and making a little something out of nothing.
Our wide receivers are getting better. And they made some ridiculous great catches.
These B1G refs were horrible. And I think one of them is a local guy from Kansas City area.
Defense looks good. Still a little work to do against the passing game...but they did their job well.
I hope coach is able to get those targeting calls challenged, and our guys play the first half next week.
and lastly...
I know...We are Kansas, and we have to prove more than just a few games. But man...the play by play and color guy...come on ESPN. Step it up!
I'm sure everyone's tuned out of this one by now (I was just about to myself), so if you missed that awesome Altmeyer 70+ yard rushing TD on 3rd and 18, go watch the highlights. With him in the pocket, he effectively ran for nearly 90 actual yards.
Yeah, that one wasn't clear to me. If I was the ref on the field and had a good look, I imagine it probably looked like targeting live. The replay footage was murky though.
