Netflix's 'Magic: The Gathering' Series Is Officially Dead
Brandon Routh reveals that Netflix's Magic: The Gathering animated series is "not happening." Here's what he said at TIFF.
I guess no one wanted to stare at this for a half hour.
I'm shocked. Shocked, I tell you. Who could have seen this coming?
Although it had been fully written and recorded, the series dropped off the radar around the same time that Netflix cancelled a number of in-development animation projects, including adaptations of Bone, Wings of Fire, Antiracist Baby, Pashmina, and a Jamie Hewlett-directed Gorillaz film.
Probably a good thing considering MtG's fluff has been shit for years. They want that Marvel money and have been doing "theme parks with hats" settings now for over a decade.
And some of those settings had potential if only they were given more world building than those hats.
I guess no one wanted to see this for a half hour.
