Im glad they’re getting work (and everyone else on the production crew) but that show was unwatchable. I didn’t even make it through the first episode it was so poorly written and paced.
It is incredibly rare that a live action depiction of something I love does justice to the source material.
Fallout and Last of Us pulled it off. The original TMNT movies were great (as a kid). I'm sure there are other exceptions, but 95 times out of 100 they seem to suck in my experience.
Fallout was brilliant, but I think worked so well because it was a new story set in that universe and not a retelling. didn’t see The Last of Us but never played the game so nothing to based it on if I had.
Another one that comes to mind that was well done (just not as good as the source) was the live action One Piece. Watching just the first episode made me actually want to watch the Anime and 1000 episodes later here I am. They have bit off more than they can chew with that though, considering how bonkers that shit gets, but at least the first season was a faithful adaptation.
In April 2024, it was revealed that Albert Kim would be stepping back from being the series’ showrunner and working solely in an executive producer capacity for season 2. Christine Boylan and Jabbar Raisani, who played pivotal roles in the first season, will take over the reins.
