Video game maker Activision Blizzard laying off 400 workers in Irvine, LA
Since last year’s acquisition by Microsoft, the company has cut more than 1,000 jobs.
70 billion dollars and they can't afford to pay the employees.
Fuck Activision for killing Blizzard, fuck Microsoft for trying to milk it's corpse till dust.
44 0 ReplyHardly Microsoft alone. Sony sunk billions into Bungie. Around 20%+ OF THE TOTAL WORKFORCE have been laid off at bungie just in 2024.

12 1 ReplyOnly 400? Those are rookie numbers!
11 0 ReplyThey just haven't announced their RTO policy yet
3 0 ReplyRTO just means "layoffs" under a different branding. These gross companies know how to be extra gross. When they really want to actually do a big layoff, that's when they'll roll out the "RTO" policy.

We're watching a sinking ship in realtime.
6 1 ReplyI'm sure Overwatch story mode will come out any day now...
4 0 ReplyTo people talking about "sinking ship". I don't think that's it.
This is regular "I bought the IPs and customers perception of your history, not the actual human value of actual creators" from Microsoft.
Microsoft need the "CoD concepts" that force their platform (whatever Xbox/Windows may be) in the industry; anything else, doesn't matter.
2 0 ReplyThat makes sense, the company is dying.
Enjoy your Chinese government cock, losers.
(The company, not the people who got fired, I hope they find great jobs fast!)

What?
OW2 saw terrible reviews because Blizzard pulled out of China.
And now it’s owner by Microsoft
