- Thread is a Smart Home protocol. It's like Zigbee and Z-Wave but different. Hopefully it's actually going to become the real winner in the smart home world along with Matter.
  
  The only Matter devices I’ve seen so far don’t support Thread, but work over WiFi.
Cool. I didn’t realize Thread was it’s own radio standard, and separate from Bluetooth. Makes sense!

  Yes, it’s basically a new standard that sits next to WiFi and Bluetooth. All three have strengths and weaknesses for different applications.
- It’s almost like people just like to bitch about things.
  
  For those wondering what was removed here: lemmy.ml had an automatic slur filter that will remove, amongst others, the word for a female dog.
- Ignoring that the point of Matter (which is so far not happening effectively) is to be a standard shared by all the major providers for smart stuff, this doesn't mean they're removing Bluetooth.
