Weekly “What are you playing” Thread || Week of October 20th
Whatcha all been playing?
I've been pushing myself through silent hill 2 remake. Not because it's bad but because it's so damn scary to me 😭.
I live for horror games but this game fills me with so much dread nearly every second. I have a few nitpicks with decisions they made, but now that I'm on the final area I think they really did do as good a job as you can with this remake. It's really damn solid
So close to great. I wish more developers were making environmentally detailed, high production value, single player linear games like Callisto Protocol. Just that little bit better executed to round out the total package.
More Diablo 4, after finally getting over my cold. Playing through the campaign was super boring (being sick and miserable didn't help). All that time is also basically wasted, and you just want it to be over as fast as possible, to actually start progressing your character. Future seasons might be better, since you can skip the campaign, but a bunch of stuff only unlocks after you hit max level anyway, so who knows. The expansion increased the difficulty of the game, added some more difficulty options and did a stat squish, but I don't think I'm a big fan. Until yesterday, it felt like I was just treading water, not making much progress. Then I managed to unlock Torment 3 difficulty, change my build a bit and get good enough gear, started blasting through enemies, and had more fun. So, while I'm not bored out of my skull anymore, I think I'll just finish the season journey and battle pass, and then take another break from the game.
After playing Space Marine 2 getting bored of that in 8 hours after finishing the extremely short story and all the post story content. Moved onto throne and Liberty just for the game to be heavy pay 2 win and also full of bots. Back to the good ol EverQuest - Quarm server.
Metaphor! I'm at the third town and loving every part of it.
I'm kinda struggling with the difficulty on hard, so I might turn it down a bit, as the resources feel a little too strict and stressful, but it also makes finishing a dungeon more satisfying.
Finally started in on Diablo 4: Season 6, and it was a little bit of a pain leveling up with the new system, but once I got into the paragon boards, man, things really took off. I am in love with my Dance of Knives Rogue. She is mowing down mobs like they're nothing. It's only been a week and I'm already on the Slayer chapter for season objectives. At this rate I'll be done faster than my Necromancer last season.
Played Amnesia: The Bunker (again, lol) one night for a couple more achievements: never dropping/storing an item and playing through the whole game without saving. I was also trying to go for three with one about taking out a bunch of rats, but for some reason I could never get more than a group of 4. Oh well.
I got back into Path of Exile a month ago, and that's still going on. Last time I didn't do more than finishing the campaign, but this time I'm well into end game and it's great!
I've also started playing Siege Survival: Gloria Victis this weekend. You play as a couple of characters in a city that's under siege. During the day you need to create supplies for the soldiers in your bastion, and during the nights you've got to sneak around the city and gather materials, or scout behind the enemey lines to get Intel for the next siege attack. It's actually really fun!
Trying to finish up Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirt of Justice. I think I'm on the last case, so I can move on to the Ace Attorney: Investigations spin-offs after this. I've played all of these in the past on DS/3DS (except AA:I2), but that was years ago so some of these I don't remember the cases and stories. Either way, I'm enjoying it. I don't particularly love Visual Novels, but these kinds I do like.
Picked up Metaphor: ReFantazio over the weekend. Only a few hours in, but it's definitely got my attention. Cool to play a brand new JRPG IP. Definitely looking forward to getting deeper into it. I like that it uses the traditional JRPG turn-based battle system. I don't mind active battle systems (a la FFXV and FFXVI), but I'm definitely a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to JRPGs. Plus I'm often just bad at active battle, ha.
Friends also goaded me into getting the new Factorio: Space Age DLC. Even though I've had the base game for years, I don't really play Factorio, preferring Satisfactory instead when I want to play Factory Sims, but I wanted to play with friends. Plus it's a good chance for me to finally learn how to play this game and play efficiently.
I recently started playing WoW again. This time on Turtle WoW and it's really impressive with how much care the devs expanded on vanilla. Love it, really.
Also started playing OSRS again since I hate my job and will only do the absolute bare minimum going forth. In between it's time to grind lol
