Flash Gordon.
Ah aaaaaah! He'll stand for everyone of us! Fight for everyone one of us!
Do you yearn for the times where a blonde beef cake becomes the greatest warrior in the universe because... football? The costumes, sets and Queen soundtrack make the movie beautiful. But the only loosely coherent plot and baffingly suggestive erotica themes firmly make it a bad movie. A fun one tho!
Every time I watch that movie I wonder how it got made. The elevator pitch for it is terrible. The story is corny and confusing, and it’s so unnecessarily expensive. The cast, sets, and costumes are all so over the top for something so campy. Apparently it only made back 80% of its $35M budget in the box office (Empire Strikes Back came out the same year with a $23M budget).
It really shouldn’t exist and there’s nothing quite like it. I think I love it for that reason alone.
Before Star Trek and Star Wars, Flash Gordon was the big sci-fi franchise.
Iron Sky, it was a B movie in the early 2000's
Have you seen the sequels? They kept making them.
Disregard, double posted because shitty connection
It's so much fun. Genuinely terrible but in a very tongue in cheek, doesn't take itself seriously at all, kind of way. All the actors are clearly having a great time and it's soo funny.
Sounds like Snakes on a Plane to me. That's precisely what I found fun about that ridiculous film
Love Actually
Every Christmas man, without fail
Hudson Hawk, fucking barmy film.
ok yogi
And my partner and I quote it often. It's old enough that it's almost a secret language.
Biodome
Makin' a filter, makin' a filter...
A Night a the Roxbury
I feel that way about most films with Ferrell, Sandler, and Stiller. So silly and stupid that they work so light-heartedly well. You just know the set laughed their asses off plenty of times in production.
A recent one: Ernest Saves Christmas
Almost every line of this movie gets quoted around my house all year.
Everytime I watch Highlander, I am amazed at how corny it is, and somehow still so incredibly awesome.
You Don’t Mess With The Zohan. I was in the Middle East two decades ago and the phone dialing scene always makes me smile.
Troll 2. There is no other movie that defines "so bad it's good" like this one does.
You can’t piss on hospitality.
"Dark Star". Absolute trash movie, but also a classic.
More like low-budget sci-fi dark comedy masterpiece!
To check if this is your kind of jam, try this on for size:
We first meet our intrepid hippie, country music-listening astronauts in the midst of a multiple-year mission to blow up distant planets using thinking bombs.
Due to an onboard accident a few years back, many essentials got blasted into space, including all of the toilet paper.
Probably a tie between Tremors 1/2, Big Trouble in Little China and Buckaroo Banzai.
Those movies are all great though
tremors is AMAZING
The first Tremors is 100% a great movie. Up there with the first Predator and Alien movies.
Kung Pow! Enter the Fist
Old kung fu movie dubbed over and edited into a completely new movie. I struggle to call this one bad, because being "good" was never considered here. Incredibly surreal experience, had no idea what I was in for.
I love that it’s one guy doing all the voices. Mastapiece.
Oh fuck off; no one hates this film.
I definitely know some people who can't stomach it though lol
Live action Super Mario Bros. movie is a favorite of mine.
I like it much better than the new one.
Absolute classic.
Oh, Hi Mark.
You’re my favorite customer.
Street fighter
Mortal Kombat
I'd argue MK Annihilation as an alternate. The first was at least mildly passable.
Birdemic - Shock and Terror
Absolutely everything about this movie is so bad you feel second hand embarassment for the filmmaker.
The atrocious sound quality,
The cringy acting
The even more cringy writing
The 3 chords of "music" that are repeated all throughout as soundtrack
The heavy-handed preachy message
The special effects, the pacing, just...everything is as bad as it can be in a movie.
Part 4 is coming out next year.
That scene where they defend themselves against the animated clip art birds with wire coat hangers lives rent-free in my head.
If you haven't, check out Neil Breen.
That may be so, but “Just Hanging Out With My Family” is a stone cold banger of a song that must be played every time I hang out with my family.
In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale.
No one did entertaining trash like Uwe Boll. My friends and I used to do a bad movie night fortnightly or so. Boll was the king. The worst entertainment news you could hear was that he'd bought the movie rights to your favorite video game.
Curse the German government for closing whatever tax loophole that allowed him to make these movies!
I didn't know that guy until I watched that movie. I didn't know a movie could be so bad. That was beyond lack of talent. It was sabotage, make it bad on purpose.
I think it's very early in the movie (haven't seen it in a long time) that a goblin voluntarily sets himself on fire and climbs into a catapult to be launched at the enemy.
That's something you won't see in LotR!
Jet Li's The One
I AM YULAW ! I'M NOBODY'S BITCH !
That ending is so good.
Tank Girl
I rewatch "New Rose Hotel" every once in a while trying to like it. It's a William Gibson story set in the Neuromancer universe. It stars Willem Dafoe, Christopher Walken, and Asia Argento. It should be good, but it absolutely is not.
The Core
SOUNDWAVES
Terrorism.
Gymkhata all the way
There is this Martial arts movie from like, 30 years ago called Little Dragon Maiden. Its not good but it has an ending that is really bad. I like showing it to my friends with no heads up. It always makes them angry.
Every Which Way but Loose
It's been a minute but I ate that shit up when I was younger
Your Highness. It definitely is a bad movie, yet I enjoy it. I admit the lake bath scene is part of the enjoys a able aspect. But even if it was not there, the movie is actually a good dungeons and dragons film. It's not marketed as such, but for sure that's a d&d session . Only thing missing iso opening with a young fighter clearing rats in an tavern Cellars.
Early James Bond movies with Sean Connery.
Roar is a 10/10 batshit insane movie.
The Big Hit
I have spent the past several years convinced I was the only person who had seen this. In the theaters the first time no less.
My brothers and I have an inside joke of recreating the pose from the #1 customer of the month adult section (double thumbs up crossed against the chest). I love this movie. Time to load this one up again.
Lou Diamond Phillips dramatic death scene lives rent-free in my brain forever.
Miami Connection. The bad acting and writing is endearing. I sincerely like the music and 80% of the fight choreography.
Friends through eternity, loyalty, honesty
We'll stay together through thick or thin
I really like the bad crazy christmas movies in netflix. This year 'hot frosty' is taking the crown for 'wtf did I just watch' that I thoroughly enjoyed.
the mean girls reference was gold
Harold and Kumar go to White Castle
Cave girl. Seen it on usa's up all night with Gilbert Godfrey.
Ishtar.
The songwriting was so bad it was amazing
Plus that fuckin camel
These men are frauds!
Disney's robin hood and robin hood men in tights were big during my childhood so I like them for the nostalgia.
Kingsmen movies are fun
The quick and the dead with decaprio is very bad but I enjoy it.
I wouldn't say the any of the two RH movies or the first Kingsmen movie is bad at all, though. Disney RH is a nice enough straightforward retelling that actually kind of nails the tone of the late-medieval romances, and the Roger Miller songs are perfection. Men in Tights is probably one of the stronger entries in Brooks's later career. Kingsmen was a fun romp and a good send-up of James Bond, though admittedly it was on the edge and neither sequel is all that good.
Never saw The Quick and the Dead. Was that the Sharon Stone starring vehicle?
Yup, Sharon stone and dicaprio, 1995
Disney’s Robin Hood did things to me
The Last Dragon
The Matador. Its a personal favorite, but not a great movie by any rate. I love how Pierce Brosnan seems to want to break away from the 007 mold and play the exact opposite: a sleazy assassin with no class and no friends and no love.
It's cheesy af but I think it's brilliant
I think you're confusing not being popular with not being good. The Matador was well regarded by both critics and audiences.
Great film.
Jiu-Jitsu
The bee movie. Patrick Warburton doesn't have a single bad line.
Honestly a lot of old DreamWorks cartoons are like that - really dumb, but funny
Street Fighter.
It's rubbish. Terrible script. Half the cast can't act.
But then Raul Julia basically saves the whole thing by turning it into a pantomime. He knows he's in a shit movie. He's literally dying. But he's going to have fun and so are you.
To be fair Kylie was pretty damn hot.
For repeated viewings? Probably just the old standby A Knight's Tale. Not sure how "bad" it really is though, just a very specific type of fluff elevated by some charming performances.
For bad movies I watched once but enjoyed? Standards go WAY down. As a teenager, I saw Weekend at Bernie's 2 with my mom in the theater and enjoyed it. Around 2015-2016 I also watched the first three installments in the "Mythica" microbudget epic fantasy series (words that generally don't go together well, LOL) and found the earnestness (and the mercifully quick exit of creepo Kevin Sorbo in each one) made them oddly watchable, but they are by no means good and I never bothered with tracking down the last three.
A Knight’s Tale is a good movie, though. Not everyone likes the pop soundtrack, but if you suspend that disbelief, it’s a solid movie.
I saw an interview a while back where the director said that the movie was trying to give the audience a taste of what a jousting tournament would feel like, so they chose a modern sound track to help a modern audience feel the hype.
Yeah, the entire thing is all about "vibes" and trying to tell a light story that makes us feel how a bunch of minor nobles and and proto-middle-class people would have felt going to a tournament or reading one of the more ribald Canterbury tales, or listening to a Chretien de Troyes romance.
To specific choices to get you there are still kind of "fluff," but no doubt they're reasonably well done and "sticky" in a way that can be hard to articulate. There's a lot going on, and I don't think it comes together well enough to be a great movie, and maybe most unfortunately, its target audience probably includes both people who will have trouble suspending disbelief long enough to sink into the silliness and enjoy it, and people who will never give it a try because of the setting, but I can't help but stop and watch a bit when I come across it.
Everyone either picking films I haven't seen or pretty good picks from movies I actually remember seeing and I'm out here wondering whether Fievel Goes West would count. Don't watch many movies anymore, so my movie pool is mostly from memory and I couldn't tell you what's actually bad.
Does not count. It is a great movie. No further questions.
In the army now
It's pat
The greasy strangler.
Weekend at Bernie's for sure, in fact, I think it's a quasi-perfect movie for what it is.
The Room is legendary
White Chicks
All the marvel movies
You really are a psychopath
big stan, definitely
Death Machine (1994)
Poultrygeist, it's my favourite film to put on when I want my friends to leave Hahaha.
John Dies at the End, one of my favorite books and the movie is a trainwreck but I can't get enough of it. Used to put it on to fall asleep to.
The Big Sleep, it was a Raymond Chandler noir dimestore pulp detective book about a pornography ring with a movie released under the most restrictive censorship rules ever so it became a complete mess with huge plot holes and a mostly disorienting story. It's terrible but Bogart and Bacall are really enjoyable to watch with some memorable lines. Trigger warning she has a light-hearted song in a casino about domestic abuse that is insane.
I'm also a sucker for Halloween, resident evil, and underworld series that are all terrible movies in their own ways but a lot of fun to watch.
I don't know how bad it's considered to be, I've seen people complain about Sum of All Fears. But I seem to be able to watch it on repeat..
DragonBall. Yes that one.
There are two: Zardoz and Youngblood
