Canada is a state, just not a part of the United States. Why is this controversial?
Edit: ah, I see. I glossed over the “governor” part.
"Governor" is the title of the heads of the states of the USA, but not of the prime minister of Canada. He has - probably through stupidity rather than actual malice, not that he is lacking in the latter - basically described Canada as a state of the USA.
Okay yeah, the “governor” part is wrong for sure.
And I don’t doubt his combination of malice and incompetence.
The governor general of Canada is Mary Simon. Trump clearly doesn't understand what he's saying.
