Press Downplays Danger of Supreme Court Case That Threatens Trans Rights—Among Others
Instead of holding those in power accountable for their attacks on minority groups, many in the press corps will happily join in on the attacks.
Because no one in power actually cares about us. Republicans actively want us dead. Democrats pretend to care, but are very willing to toss us under the bus for a quick buck. The media is owned by billionaires who overwhelmingly support fascists.
It's disheartening how many people don't really care much, but we have to work on those people. For them, it's important to keep reminding them that so-called "trans rights" are just basic human rights, and if you let them slip you're letting everyone's rights slip. If they can't care about others, maybe they can be coerced into caring about how this might come back to bite them. Too many people see fascism rising and think, "at least they're not coming for me." No one is safe under fascism. They start by victimizing whoever has the least power, and work their way outwards from there.

It's not going to stop with trans people either. All queer rights are under threat.
Bloody sad yo. People not in power care about you. I have no idea personally what it would feel like to just be treated as non-human, nor how anyone could ever treat groups of people as not worth existing.
If anything it's amazing it took this long to fall apart.

It doesn't matter what sort of mental gymnastics or word games you play to try and confuse the issue and convince useful idiots to turn against their own societies. Going after children will always be a hard red line you can not cross without severe consequence.
The question is who suffers the severe consequences. It will not the rich and powerful who are stirring up all this hatred.
We have to understand that we're witnessing persecution of minorities by a fascist state, the same thing people saw in Nazi Germany. And we need to organize to defend trans people and the other persecuted groups, if we want the outcome to be any better than it was under Nazism first time around. We all need to consider this our duty and not leave it for others to sort out.
