  • I can hardly call the launch of Counter Strike 2 a surprise launch. It was unsurprising, as the game was in Beta for months, a release date was given for "in Summer" and it was the last day of Summer, with the official Twitter account posting one weak earlier what we will do next Wednesday. Plus changing image on the account in last day.

As for the game itself, I am also disappointed, because the Linux version launched with a couple of issues. There was major visual issues with AMD cards, an audio issue not finding audio card without commandline options (which got even worse with latest update, introducing audio lag) and the overall performance was bad. I am not even talking about the missing features in general. Sure Valve will optimize the code, add old and new features and make us happy in the long run. But this is another AAA game which was not ready at launch. Maybe it wouldn't be as bad, if the game "launched" with the Early Access beta, like others do. I expected more from Valve, not gonna lie.

  • I do think CS2 should have been kept in open beta while keeping CS:GO servers up. But I also want to believe that if people continue to complain about the parts of the game that need improvements that Valve will fix them.

From what I can tell Valve's priorities are correct. They focus on game play improvements and hopefully they'll bring other modes back once competetive is in a great state.
