The article expands on this but Columbia itself also laid the groundwork for their own targeting by reinforcing the false narrative of extreme violence to justify their forceful response.

Had they simply supported the protests (an excellent stance for a university assuming the protests aren't trying to promote nazism or white nationalism) then they wouldn't be in this boat.
