I pay a bit more attention to labels
Me too! And honestly it has raised my awareness on where the stuff I buy is from. Sometimes it's unbelievable: Paprika all they way from California, US next to local paprika.
I have changed brands on several products because I started paying attention to where the product comes from or what's its parent company. Fortunately, most of my purchases were already from local or national brands, so it hasn't been too life changing.
However, I am now looking at labels way more than a few months ago.
Same, I was surprisingly buying more local than I thought. But yeah also feel like I'm checking every label now.
Yup, i am currently looking for quality European Made kitchenware specifically bc of the movement instead of Just biying cheap ones from Ikea. Therefore reducing my co2-footprint by a bit. Also in Terms of US-dependance i am looking for a New Mail Provider - as my Gmail-box and a bit complicated Setup was giving my "storage full" warnings, i am looking for better and privacy conscious Base services. Before the movement i would Just have reduced the storage size by deleting old Mails, saying (giving the excuse) that in todays Internet World you have to die at least one dead - giving your Data to either Apple or Google - now i am looking for ways to reduce my previous Dependance in Google-Services.
Sounds like a good clear todo you have there, I wish you luck! Don't hesitate to ask in a post for recommendations if you feel like it.
For emails I can personally recommend Tuta, but we've got quite a few posts about that and people have different preferences :)
Ty! Yeah, i registered with tuta and started to move Things there. Until i came to the "how do i Back Up old E-Mails from selected folders when the storage gets full again" question - i tried their Export solution and it can only Export all Mails, Not folders specific ones, and dumps them with No reference or information to their sorted folders onto your Disk. So i will try with another Provider, who supports IMAP so i can use regular Thunderbird/betterbird as Mail client, where i can do exactly that.
I choose more conciously local products in my everyday life, but the the biggest impact was digitally - i completely quit amazon, facebook, google and reddit, and slowly switched to european alternatives. Next step is completely leaving meta (still need to use insta and whatsapp rn). It is a slow process, but deleting my google account after years was scary, yet very rewarding. Thanks to this communities it is actually quite easy now! I am still Looking for a proper google maps alternative through, but i am optimistic that the current alternatives are getting there soon.
Check out Organic Maps: https://organicmaps.app/
Thanks! I give it a try!
Happy to hear! And I have similar experiences. Digital clean-up was the most visible part of my journey to go european.
Also you are right: this community has really helped me too. It's also awesome to have a community where everyone shares the same struggles as well and I love personal posts here that ask or tell about their experiences, recent finds, and so on!
got carried away with my text a little! These changes changed my online shopping completely and I am very happy about it!
