Lilith's arrival in Overwatch 2 has been less than heavenly.
If they’re still playing OW2 then it’s pretty obvious that nothing Blizzard does will make them stop. The fact that they’re complaining about the price’s amount rather than the price itself is proof that Blizz already has them on the hook.
I'm still playing, but only for the love of the game. I've long since lost hope of unlocking skins and stuff since OW2 replaced OW. The monetization is horrible, but if you're fine without the cosmetics, the game is mostly the same.

Obviously it doesn't justify such a predatory way of trying to squeeze money from your users, but if someone has the compulsion to spend $40 on a cosmetic item in a video game then I think they might have issues with addiction.
This is a little sensationalized, $40 is a lot, and it's more than past season pass ultimate bundles, but it's not just one skin for $40 like a lot of people want you to believe.
Is it shitty that the only way to get the skin is through the bundle? Undoubtedly, but it's not any worse than the industry standard.

I don't know is the term "payware" is new, but it is the best description of Blizzard's shitty sales practices. I remember when I played shareware, and you got to play the first few levels of a game, and if you liked it, you paid a single price to unlock the entirety of the rest of the game.

You good. People complaining about business practices of a company who has become known for those exact business practices are wild. II personally just stopped buying from them because they've shown they no longer want me as a customer. I do feel like people like those in the article might do better to just stop buying from them. There are so many fucking great devs and games out there from indie to AAA, why would I continue to support a company who I feel is being unfair to their customer base.
Not that I'd be remotely interested in the skin (nor do I play OW2), but really Blizzard? You'd think that with all of the PR issues they've been facing lately with both games, that they wouldn't pull something like this so quickly.

Reading news about Blizzard is like reading news about Trump and Elon Musk. One insanely negative thing after the other, with not a shadow of anything even remotely good, healthy or positive in sight—but at the end of the day these people and corps never face any consequences whatsoever for their actions, because that's not how the world works. "Hellish heat" means abso-fucking-lutely nothing whatsoever to Blizzard. Nothing. It's less than nothing to Blizzard that their fans are upset, because the very same fans keep buying the lukewarm shit that Blizzard stands ever ready to shovel down their throats by the ton. How many negative reviews did Overwatch get on Steam? Two hundred thousand? And what was the effect on Blizzard's bottom line? Less than zero. Nothing. Probably a net positive, actually, given that they got some free publicity out of it. Excuse me if I think it's a little pathetic to write an article with a title like this. Pathetic and completely disconnected from reality.
