What side? Hamas or the Palestinian people? The Israeli response has been targeting the people more than anything.
Considering their direct quote was "the civilians suffer on both sides" I think it's quite clear they're saying both Hamas and the Israeli leadership suck here. It's a brutal war and there is no good team playing by the rules doing their best not to take out innocent civilians. It's clear leadership on both sides hates the civilians on the other side of their border.
There aren't really even two sides to this conflict. Hamas, Fatah, Islamic Jihad, Netenyahu's right wing coalition, West Bank settlers, those Israelis protesting the Israeli government, those supporting the government, ...
The whole thing's a mess.
