Nottingham Panthers' Adam Johnson dies after suffering a cut to his neck from a skate in a Challenge Cup match against the Sheffield Steelers.

Such sad news. Thoughts go out to his family, friends, teammates and everyone who's been affected by this news.

- I recall hearing about this happening another time. If my memory is correct, the only reason that guy survived is because the team medic was also an army medic
  
  It's happened a few times that I remember, Zednik in 07 (ish) and most famously with Clint Malarchuk back in the 80s.
  
  Iirc Malarchuk only survived because there was a former army doc literally sitting behind the net, which happened to be where the door was to access the ice.
I know there's a video floating around of this. I have heard that it's quite traumatic to watch. Do not post it here. If it gets posted, it will be taken down.
