Just watched the Boy Boy video on George Bush’s Masterclass, and they made me think about which U.S. President was actually worse.

  • Age old debate, my take is that Truman's cavalier approach to just going ahead and nuking Japan as a middle finger to the USSR, and laying the path for the US to completely disregard human life in its pursuit of global hegemony makes him worse than any other president of the 20th Century. But I can also see a good argument for it being Reagan, Nixon, or even Bush Sr. (though I think in his case he did more harm as director of the CIA than President, despite the Gulf War).

Scoping out of just the 20th Century I think there's also a serious argument for Andrew Johnson as he just completely set back racial justice, the 20th Century would've looked very different if the US hadn't doubled down on its white supremacy.

E: just saw that the original post had it between Trump or GWB. And people were actually saying Trump. shrek-pixel-despair

    • Continuing as if all US presidents were options, I think there's a case to be made for Thomas Jefferson taking that "award". He spearheaded a lot of early American westward expansion, with horrific consequences for indigenous people in those lands.

    • Trump or GWB. And people were actually saying Trump

OP said Trump was actually the “consensus”. Figured it was probably a dunk tank worthy take given that.

      • Yes I saw that. Bush starting wars that killed 4.5 million, passing the Patriot Act, establishing the conditions that would lead to 2008? Whatever, at least he was respectable. Trump's dumb hogs try to do a coup? Worse than Hitler.
