We are 30 minutes away from the Scary Fast Apple event.
I came across an Apple event bingo card from the Basic Apple Guy blog.
Are there any items on the list you don't expect to happen or 100% sure will happen? Is there anything missing? Let's get the conversation started.
The $1600 MacBook Pro only has 8GB of RAM. That is completely unacceptable.
Offering a pro model with 8GB of RAM is pretty silly. Anybody who buys that is not getting the proper experience.
I had a feeling it was going to be 8/256 when it when ‘business owners’ were described as one of the key user types. It’s the laptop the IT department can give to management that’s got a pro sticker on it, without having to give them something over powered. It’s a vanity thing. Actual pro’s will get something better, everyone else is probably better off with an Air.

So I think the “chat” sort is supposed to be that I think. Maybe not all apps support it. And I suspect it’s got some bug too.
And the event has ended, which apparently was all shot on an iPhone and edited on a Mac.
It was a 30-minute presentation, straight and to the point. However, I don't know if this really needed to be a special event on a Monday night before Halloween.
Yeah, I actually liked that they kept this fairly brief. The "shot on iPhone" reveal was cute.
You can really spend $1700 for an iMac or $1800 for a MacBook Pro that come with only 8GB RAM in their base configurations. C'mon.
It's interesting that they keep harping on "when upgrading from an Intel-based Mac". I guess their data shows that a lot of users are still on Intel chips. Or maybe it just makes a better comparison?

Apple is the king of better number bigger graph.
It’s definitely a bit of both. But nobody with an M1 Mac should really consider upgrading to an M3 unless they really want some specific new features.
I’m so on an old Intel MacBook Pro. Getting 16 GB RAM (which back then was more of an unusual investment) really has helped the machine stay quite workable.
The only problematic part of the laptops age is that Apple no longer supports it with OS upgrades 🤷.

The iMac is being upgraded with the M3 chip. I was hoping for a better screen and different colors.
Does the iMac really need an updated screen? Genuine question because I don't know what it's capable of at the moment.

You have to wonder why they are holding the event outside of North American business hours.
I wish they would have given some details behind how dynamic caching works. Without any context it kinda sounds like nonsense to me.
Making some bold GPU claims. Supposedly it's 2x perf over the m2 line.

Why are they talking about iMessage on Mac like it's a new feature? I guess people outside of the Mac ecosystem might not know.

Starting off with a Mac-related video showing off how people use their Macs.

I’d love to have a Mac, but they are too pricy at the moment.
M1 air on an edu discount, bought with discounted apple giftcards (10% off is easy to find) isn't that bad at all.
Apple doesn’t really do cheap computers. If you want cheap an older machine mini is your best bet. Intel Macs are tanking in value at the moment.
I get that, but I also keep hearing about how they are not selling enough computers. If they want to sell more computers, they are going to have to lower the price.
And the 27” iMac everyone keeps wishing for didn’t come. I’m not too sad about it. I can appreciate having a mini and a powerful laptop and I don’t have the Apple display but having all the power tied up in an all in one is freeing. I can upgrade that mini now much more cheaply and easily. And I can use the screen with my laptop instead of target display mode.
Considering Apple updated the 14" & 16" MacBook Pro to M2 chips the same time as Mac Mini back in Jan 2023, and many believed that it was delayed due to supply chain and production issues, supposedly the release schedule was Oct-Nov 2022 in previous year.
Now that MacBook Pros get the M3, M3 Pro, M3 Max, why didn't the Mac Mini get the refreshed as well ?
Will Apple just simply make the Mac Mini the drag queen that stretched 3-4 years refresh cycle ?
I was really hoping they were going to announce they purchased the Paul Lynn Halloween Special and converted it to 4K!
