Paris to hold referendum on higher parking fees for heavy SUVs

Paris is set to hold a public consultation on 4 February about whether to increase parking charges for heavy SUVs.

I dream about the day something like that happens in Montreal. Pretty sure it will remain a dream forever....
- I wish private vehicles were taxed yearly based on the damage they do to the roads divided by the average number of passengers based on vehicle type. Road damage scales with vehicle weight to the fourth power.
  
  Should be incorporating "cost to society and environment" to be more generic. Rolling coal, loud-ass exhaust and danger to pedestrians should not go unsanctioned.
  
  Dutch road taxes do this, but nowhere the fourth power. It's not even linear
- Hell, I dream about that in Boston. There’s a guy in my apartment garage with a fuck-off huge truck and it’s annoying as hell.
Banned e-scooters and higher parking fees for SUV's, i think i need to life there.
To be fair, there aren't many of these in downtown Paris in the first place. Probably way fewer than in American or already German cities. This referendum feels more symbolic than anything else.
- Better stop something before it becomes a problem.
