Looking at the new craftable weapons on Light.gg and listing what I think is going to be good for each one. **I'm not listing every perk for every gun. **
Season of the Wish Weapons
Origin Trait: Dragon's Vengance - When an ally dies or you reach critical health the weapon reloads, gains bonus range, charge rate, and handling.
Appetence:
Stasis Kinetic Trace Rifle. First of it's kind.
First column:
Overflow
Clown Cartridge
Demolitionist
Second Column:
Killing Tally
One for All
Attrition Orbs (sustained damage creates orbs)
Headstone
I pretty much only look at traces for PVE. This is the first legendary Stasis trace so that makes it already interesting. First column has some clear winners but the second column has some options depending on what you want.
Supercluster:
Slug Strand Shotgun. First of it's kind.
First Column PVE:
Reconstruction
Threat Detector
Fourth Times
Lead From Gold
Slice (casting class ability allows the weapon to sever targets on hit for a duration or maximum number of targets)
Second Column PVE:
Cascade Point
Hatchling
Attrition Orbs
Vorpal
First Column PVP:
Threat Detector
Slideshot
Second Column PVP:
Fragile focus
Surrounded
Vorpal
This one is looking more PVE focused than PVP. FTTC/Reconstruction + Cascade Point could be nutty. I don't think it's going to replace my Heritage though.
EDIT: I was lucky and can craft this one early. Cascade Point only marginally increases the fire rate so I switched to Reconstruction/Vorpal for less micromanaging. I can't be bothered to damage test it so I don't know which would be more DPS.
Scatter Signal:
Rapid Fire Strand Fusion Rifle. First of it's kind.
First Column PVE:
Slice
Overflow
Enlightened Action
Second Column PVE:
Hatchling
Attrition Orbs
Controlled Burst
First Column PVP:
Encore
Surplus
Perpetual Motion
Second Column PVP:
Kickstart
Adagio
Also looking better for PVE than PVP. I don't think Rapid Fires are too popular in PVP right now. Pretty much any Fusion with Controlled Burst is a win in my book.
Lethophobia:
Void Lightweight Bow
First Column PVE:
Successful Warm Up
Repulsor Brace
Permeability (using your class ability changes the damage type to match your subclass. Osmosis but for class abilities)
Second Column PVE:
Attrition Orbs
Golden Tricorn
Disruption Break
Explosive Head
Enlightened Action
-First Column PVP:
Impulse Amplifier
Steady Hands
Second Column PVP:
Explosive Head
Disruption Break
I'm not too up to speed on what's good on bows. Permeability automatically makes this one interesting. Shame it doesn't have Destabilizing rounds in the second column.
I think this will be a menace in PVP for bow quickswappers with it having Steady Hands and Disruption Break.
Doomed Petitioner:
Void Aggressive LFR. First of it's kind.
First Column:
Reconstruction
Envious Assassin
Attrition Orbs
Permeability
Second Column:
Precision Instrument
Golden Tricorn
Surrounded
The first column is absolutely stacked and the second column is a big wet fart. Precision instrument is probably the best bet there as the other two good damage perks take too much work to get going for an LFR IMO.
Bungie really doesn't want LFRs to be the damage meta I guess.
Scalar Potential:
Rapid Fire Arc Pulse Rifle. (another one)
First Column PVE:
Keep Away
Overflow
Permeability
Enlightened Action
Second Column PVE:
Golden Tricorn
Attrition Orbs
The PVP Roll is Keep Away/Headseeker. No question. Combined with the Origin Trait this thing might be a monster in PVP.
For PVE it's hard to recommend this if you already have an Oversoul Edict from Crota's End. That gun has a much better perk pool for PVE.
Reissued Season of Undying Weapons
Origin Trait: Nano Munitions - Being near allies builds up an emergency ammo reserve that kicks in on the next reload. The longer you're near allies the more you reload.
Subjunctive:
Lightweight Frame Arc SMG. First Craftable one.
First Column:
Threat Detector
Stats for All
Grave Robber
Second Column PVE:
Voltshot
Swashbuckler
Unless you don't have an Ikelos SMG yet it's really hard for me to recommend this at all. If you don't have an Ikelos then get this with voltshot and one of the reload perks.
Now, if Stats for All procs off of Voltshot kills then this might be slightly better at add clear than Ikelos.
No reason to take this into PVP over a decent Ikelos or the Crucible 900 rpm arc SMG (can't remember the name).
Adhortative:
Adaptive Solar Pulse Rifle. First Craftable.
First Column:
Heal Clip
Attrition Orbs
Shoot To Loot
Feeding Frenzy
Second Column:
Incandescent
Golden Tricorn
This gun is looking great for PVE. Heal Clip/Incandescent is a great combo.
The gun has Headseeker in the second column but it really lacks a good PVP perk in the first column so it's hard for me to recommend it for PVP.
Optative:
Void 180 Hand Cannon. (another one)
Honestly this is the 3rd one of these we've gotten and they all kind of suck. 180 HCs haven't been good in YEARS. They're better after the range adjustments last season but I'm not going to use one over a 140 or 120 in PVP. I've been saying that Bungie needs to make these the "PVE" HC for a while and while they have good perks they just hit like wet paper.
Word of Crota is probably better at PVE than this one is. I'm not going to go over PVE.
First Column PVP:
Rapid Hit
Keep Away
Second Column PVP:
Zen Moment
Kill Clip
Imperative:
Kinetic High Impact Scout
First Column:
Keep Away
Rapid Hit
Demolitionist
Triple Tap
Second Column:
Kinetic Tremors
Adreneline Junkie
Attrition Orbs
Explosive Payload
Looks like a solid PVE option if you don't have the Last Wish scout crafted yet or a good Hung Jury.
You could rock Rapid Hit/Explosive Payload in PVP if you want but Scouts are in a bad spot in PVP still.
TL;DR
Highlights:
Legendary Stasis Trace Rifle is brand new.
Strand Slug and Rapid Fire Fusion Rifle are new and interesting
Adhortative and Imperative will probably be solid for PVE.
Low Points:
LFR is a giant miss IMO.
Another Void 180 HC.
New perks this season are interesting but not meta shifting.
Nice write up! I appreciate you for putting in descriptions for new perks
I'm excited to try some of these combinations but I'm not surprised Bungie is saying away from perk combos that are too good now that crafting is too accessible and they don't want more power creep
Precision instrument on an aggressive LFR might be too hard to proc since you can't miss a single precision shot but maybe I'm just bad at compensating for recoil on those frames
Super stoked for the Stasis trace in Cenotaph builds. Ager's is great of course but sometimes I'd really like to use my Exotic in a different slot. After snagging Path of Least Resistance a few weeks ago, I've got way more options now.
I wish I played my Warlock more to enjoy Cenotaph. It’s such a good exotic. It’s a shame more of the other gun focused exotics don’t have the utility. Hard to beat spawning heavy ammo though.
EDIT: if they let no backup plans work with every subclass it would be a top tier Titan exotic.
