Can anyone make a community like one would on reddit?
Can anyone make a community like one would on reddit?
I have looked and I see people make their own instance of lemmy
But how would I create a community on lemmy.world?
Say I wanted to make a community for a certain game discussion
Pro-tip: if you are trying to figure out if a website has a feature, try the default web interface first.
23 0 ReplyDo it, then. There's CREATE COMMUNITY button above your thread.
20 6 ReplyTFW you realize not everybody accesses lemmy the same way

It's common knowledge.

Hmm. Are these visible on apps such as liftoff and sync do you know?
9 1 ReplyYou might have to do it on the website, it's not a feature people use that often
17 0 ReplyNot on sync yet. But if you goto lemmy.world in your browser and login in, you will have the option to create a community. It's even easier to see the option if you switch to desktop mode.
3 0 ReplyI don't know of any app that lets you do community management yet.
3 0 ReplyYou have a plus at the bottom of the screen
2 0 ReplyNo clue, never used an app to browse such sites.
Still, I don't see why they shouldn't be visible, if you browse same site/same content on the app.
2 1 ReplyThey sure are. I've made one. It's just like creating a subreddit.

Yep you can, but it probably has to be through the web interface instead of an app. I created !technicaldeathmetal@lemmy.world myself a few weeks ago, there were no restrictions. It’s literally just the button, then you go through a setup wizard.
10 0 ReplyDepends on the instance. Here on Lemmy.World, it's allowed and encouraged, but on some instances they don't want the traffic and storage.
11 1 ReplyOn most instances, yes, you can create your own on the web interface. Some instances may have community creation disabled though.

Some instances don't allow it, lemmy.world does. Probably not doable in the apps yet so do it in-browser.
