  • Sounds like the familiar aches and pains of brisk population growth. Private developers can build housing faster than local governments can build schools, fire stations, etc. New residents need services the day they arrive, but they have not yet paid any local taxes to fund those services. Existing residents will have to approve new bond issues and higher taxes to pay for the necessary infrastructure for all the newcomers.

    I wonder if BC has their own version of Tim Eyman, making a career of bitching about taxes and foiling infrastructure projects. If not, I'm sure they will soon.
