Embark Studios' hit shooter The Finals has already hit 200,000 concurrent players on Steam, just 12 hours after it was released.
This screams "Were going to make this popular by talking about how popular it is", and seems to be the work or game PR.
It also has a 65% rating. We'll see how much of the user base remains if they don't revert the movement changes
According to the devs, there was no movement changes.
Just tweaks to fov settings and some animations, that cumulatively make it feel slower without any real difference in movement.
They said in the same interview that theyre trying to retweak the visuals to get rid of the optical illusion.
Played about 3 hours yesterday and after a frustrating entry period it started to click and had a good time. It’s a weird mix of battlefield & Apex wrapped in a gaudy game show. It’s solid enough at its core but different enough it stands out.
Im not sure if I’ll stick with it but it has potential. Time will tell if there’s more fundamental issues with it but given its free id say try it.
I have the same experience as you. Played a bit and it's quite good, I'm curious to see how it will grow and expand
