Aftershave: Noble Otter - Thé Noir et Vanille - Aftershave
Talc: Yardley Gold
2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.
Okay, since I don't have a Tabak Oridjinal, I'm free to interpret Tuesday more broadly :) Here's my Tabac-Tuesday SOTD ...
I'm borrowing the idea of using two tea scents from @djundjila who did it Sunday. Cheshire and TNeV pair very well. I thought that the TNeV aftershave would be a bit like a dessert tea, but I actually think TNeV soap followed by Cheshire aftershave might feel more like a main course followed by dessert.
This was my second shave on the Belgian Coticule/Black Arkansas edge that I put on this razor a couple of weeks ago. Wow, is it sharp! It is very comfortable, though, and I was completely surprised by the closeness of today's result. Great shave today!
Brush: Dogwood Handcrafts Tabak Oridjinal, now with 28 mm Gelousy knot
Razor: Zwilling J. A. Henckels Friodur 14 (8/8", extra hollow ground, stainless steel)
Lather: Mäurer & Wirtz Tabac Original
Aftershave: Mäurer & Wirtz Tabac Original
Fragrance: Mäurer & Wirtz Tabac Original
Talc: Pinaud Clubman Finest Powder
The new Gelousy knot in my Stank Whisk® lathers super easily already (second use today). The loft on this thing is a bit high, though (about 57mm - 58mm) and the brush feels quite floppy as a result. I'll have to decide whether it's worth the effort to pull the knot and drill the hole deeper. I should just get it done immediately, but I'll probably procrastinate and agonise over the decision for way too long 😅
Otherwise, this was a great shave. The big Frio 14 is a pleasure to use, and something about it's heft or geometry makes this form factor feel very mild. It's the quadrature of the tonsorial circle: cold efficiency and mild experience in seeming harmony.
Have a Stanky Tuesday (or not, if that's not your proclivity)!
