So in response to the actions of a few they flatten 50% of the I frastructure and kill dozens of thousands, 70% of which are innocent women and children (not to mention the journalists, their own citizens, the hostages...etc).
Also, there was nothing "random" about the attack. It's not like Israel hadn't been running the largest and longest running open air prison in Gaza for decades and continued to steal land from Palestinians without recourse.
To be fair, books are rather ineffective at killing Palestinian children. We gave many chances to the New York Public Library, but they have failed to rectify this issue. Market efficiency says that Israel should receive those funds instead.

In November they did announce they were closing on Sundays due to budget cuts [1]. From what I can tell, that went into effect in mid-December [2]. The budget cuts were reversed last week [3]. So as far as I can tell, they were in fact closed for awhile.
They're closed on Sundays. And they stated that it's because of budget cuts.
