The most infuriating part is that every company is using the same 3 websites for resume upload shit, but you need to re-upload and re-enter every single piece of your resume for EVERY SINGLE COMPANY you apply for.
it's insane there isn't a (somewhat) unified system like with colleges. fuck the free market, fuck the rIgHts of corporations fuck you all i'm sick of it
It is probably a good thing they aren't unified. If it was unified companies would, share, compare, rate and note. Forget just blacklisting someone from an industry, they'd use that system to blacklist people from employment altogether. Fuck giving corpos even more power.
The major Applicant Tracking Systems(ATS) (which are usually part of HRISs) that try not to suck have enabled apply without an account in the last several years because, surprise surprise, many people don't finish applying when they click through because of the insane time investment:success ratio of creating an account and filling out an entire application.
If AI is so amazing, whatever it parses from your resume should suffice to decide if you get a phone screen or are put into the initial pool for consideration, at that point the system can let you know more info is required and it's of course reasonable as a person to invest the time to do so at that point.
Unfortunately there aren't just 2 or 3 ATSes, there are 5 or 6 enormous players. ADP, Workday, Greenhouse, Dayforce, Indeed and unfortunately Oracle's Peoplesoft and now LinkedIn are some of the large players. Indeed and LinkedIn are true ATSes, they have no HR system behind them and integrate with HR systems as a funnel for candidates. The reason why the popularity or LinkedIn and Indeed has risen so much is of course many sane people realized they can make one profile and apply for many different jobs with those portals rather than creating infinite company job applicant accounts for almost no return.
The future is a verified applicant system that integrates with education and license orgs(your college degree, a certification) and employer work history. LinkedIn is the closest thing to it unfortunately, and I say unfortunately as MS shouldn't have all that data and be the holder of the future of work, also it's getting close to unusable with bot accounts. An open source solution with block chain verification for education, certification/licensure/work History would be the best alternative.
I love the cycle where companies use AI/ML to filter applications so then applicants have to pay for similar tools to screen their own resumes to ensure the AI you paid for will give the AI that they paid for the information it’s expecting so that the person you want to actually speak to recognizes you exist.
You may need to do some brushing up on interview skills.
I always have the opposite problem - getting an interview. I've never interviewed for a job without getting the offer, but getting my resume past the fucking computers is a nightmare.
You guys are getting interviews? I can't even get a response. I write a cover letter every time and even tried lying on my resume. Nothing works, so I gave up and got a job at Amazon.
