Anyone Remember/Have A Copy of An Old Comic Strip that...
Featured a family taking a car trip to Grandma's and the father telling the family how much longer it would take. The joke was that he was a Windows programmer and the time remaining of the drive would change drastically randomly. This referred to the inconsistency in the time remaining animation and dialogue in Windows (Vista I think).

(I'm going to assume you just misremembered some details, but it's possible this joke was recycled a few times. This is the only version I know about.)
I don't know about op, but that was the first ever xkcd comic I ever saw. Fan ever since. Lol.
It's not "the one" but xkcd is always welcome and perfect for my needs.
