Apple Is in Talks to Let Google’s Gemini Power iPhone Generative AI Features
Apple Inc. is in talks to build Google’s Gemini artificial intelligence engine into the iPhone, according to people familiar with the situation, setting the stage for a blockbuster agreement that would shake up the AI industry.
The two companies are in active negotiations to let Apple license Gemini, Google’s set of generative AI models, to power some new features coming to the iPhone software this year, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the deliberations are private. It would be a tempting choice if forced to use Android, but leaving iOS for GrapheneOS (Android) would be a step in the wrong direction.
Actually, GrapheneOS would be a significant step in a better direction, even before Gemini gets added to the iOS equation.
GrapheneOS is Android. And using Android at all is supporting Google. Even if it’s de-googled. Just like using any chromium browser. Although, it does look like a good choice for Android users.
