First they came for trans folk, and I did not speak up, because I'm not trans.

I'm a trans performer. During a fundraiser event, I literally went on stage and spoke about the various anti-lgbt bills being passed through the country, with references to said bills. I pleaded with people not to support the states trying to legislate away my existence.
Then I watched the same people in the audience turn around and book week-long travels to Florida. Why the fuck does everyone only go to Florida?
We used to go on a themed event with a specific group since 2011. It was our primary yearly vacation. We canceled this and next year's because we can no longer tolerate Florida and don't want to give them a dime. Fuck Florida and the rest of these shithole states.
First it was the blacks, then the women, then the blacks again, then the women (and hippies) again, then it was the gays, and now itâs the trans folks (and to a lesser extent still the gays). They sure do love themselves a marginalized population!
nah. i'm really not concerned. every time i'm in a trans community and i talk about issues other than trans rights, they treat me like a MAGA turd, so i stopped caring. we have bigger issues that affect a lot more people. i'm done being their ally. i'll let them get back to me when they turn 23.

eh, i think the trans rights has been hurting the general left's aims. we're on the verge of an eco-collapse, rise of fascism, and the birth of a dystopian neo-fuedal society. fixing those things takes precedent over some goth kid that insists everyone be nice to them.

it's just a niche issue that frankly turns some people away. it has nothing to do with republicans, but rather getting centrists and undecided voters into our camp.

Trans people making everything about themselves? What the fuck are you talking about? I only ever hear about "trans issues" because of the right. Trans people just want the right to exist.
If you think the trans community trying to defend ourselves from constant attacks equates to "making everything about them", you lack so much empathy that I honestly don't even know where to start.
If your idea of leftism includes disregarding the ongoing genocide of oppressed minorities, I have to question what the hell do you think is "leftism"?
at this point, i'm not even that attached to the 'left'. the two sides have descended into so much tribalism, i forgot what the point was.
once upon a time, i had a naive notion that i might see some kind of new golden age of mankind emerge in my lifetime - an age of reason and humanity, where we used science to reduce suffering globally for all creatures. i believed the left was far more capable of achieving that than a bunch of backwards, christofascist conservatives, but i don't even know if the left is reaching for those goals any more.
all i see now is a bunch of children that are completely obsessed with protecting a tiny fraction of the population at all costs, even if it means alienating anyone not in the lgbt camp. no one cares about the environment anymore. everyone talks about income equality and an end to police brutality but i don't see anyone actually standing up to the fascists. every time the proud boys show up in portland, they just beat the shit out of the locals, who stand helplessly by with their phones out.
the far left used to be willing to blow up banks, train for guerilla warfare, and generally get shit done, but now it's just a bunch of weenies crying about their fee fees. at this rate you'll all be whipped into submission in the next 10 years.
and meanwhile, i'm just sitting here trying to accept that nothing i hoped to see will ever happen, and that i'll go to the grave with no assurance of a better world for the people that come after me.
but hey, at least i won't have to fight in the water wars 30 years from now. i'm just so done with all this shit.

their rights ARE inconvenient to my other political aims and they WERE mean to me on several occasions. why should i care about them? they're a tiny sliver of the population and have almost NO bearing on the welfare of society as a whole. furthermore, trans women ARE a threat to vulnerable women when placed in women's safe spaces. TERF FOR LIFE. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
