I don't see any F-Droid apps using RCS either, so it's clearly not just because of Google's play store limitations.
- RCS is a proprietary standard. You would need to be licensed by GSMA to use it.
  
  I thought that was just to get the Google addons like encryption? Is the whole protocol proprietary?
Does that mean I can use it to talk to the ISS
- They have internet. So you can already email people on the ISS, if you have their email address.
