Reparations should be given not in the form of direct monetary payments, but massive investment in black communities and especially schools and scholarships. All black people in America suffer from systemic racism, so build a system they all benefit from regardless of who their ancestors were. Giving out monetary reparations won't solve any problems. This system will provide permanent benefits to all current and future black Americans.
Reparations for the Holocaust were only given out under certain circumstances and did not cover everyone that deserved it. I know because my grandparents were survivors. People in certain ghettos got it and not others. It was not well implemented because refugees were all over the place. Reparations for slavery are ridiculous at this point. What we need is better education and mentorship in low-income communities regardless of race.
The tough issue is that while they did end slavery they never changed ownership and slaves didn't own anything so all the people in this thread arguing how to identify actual victoms are idiots! It's the same debate we have with cononialism just on a far smaller scale and there is no easy solution but none isn't sufficient ether!
