Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section. Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war. Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.
Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.
Pro-Russian Telegram Channels:
Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.
https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language. https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one. https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts. https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel. https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator. https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps. https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language. https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language. https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses. https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.
I guess the most important development is that the Iranian government and media is downplaying this and saying nothing happened. I don't really buy it, given that there were simultaneous strikes within Iraq and Syria. but whatever happened seems to not be so significant that they want to retaliate and escalate into a war.
I don't really see what israel gets out of this. their hogs still want blood, they still want dead Iranians. does this minor strike on an airbase satisfy that? does it really accomplish anything militarily? what was the point?
US/Israel is calling Iran’s bluff. They know that Iran wouldn’t want to be the country to start a world war, and they’re going to keep prodding like they did in Donbass until the other side finally reacts.
Just like with Ukraine, Russia underestimated the “irrationality” of the US/NATO complex in terms of how far they were willing to go, and here, Iran believed that their warning shots could serve as a deterrent against further Israeli attacks.
They’ve truly underestimated Biden, who will not hesitate to go to the end even if it means a nuclear war that ends human civilization. The Gods of Capital want blood, and Biden is going to give it to Them.
The unfortunate thing is that we might truly be on the brink of WW3. Iran’s eventual response against this is going to be crucial.
Yes, they are putting the Iranians on a difficult position, quite deliberately.
I’m getting the Ukraine war deja vu right now. Russia was placed in a damned if you do, and damned if you don’t situation as the Ukrainians ramped up their shelling of Donbass.
The zionst entity can say "we did strikes and were successful" Iran can say "we shot them all down" and the western medai can say "iran was hit by a strike but is claiming they suffered no damage but they are probably lying."
Then everyone just lets things settle a bit and WW3 is put off till someone does something stupid or till the west starts claiming Iran is a wimp for not fighting back.
It's almost a total inversion of what I had assumed Iran's plan was. Question is whose "attack that the other side says didn't accomplish anything" is gonna be the last one I guess.
It means Israel called Iran’s obvious bluff for what it is. Now you’re all scrambling to move the goalposts so this doesn’t count as a “real strike”.
Iranian dogs were barking, screaming that they would destroy Israel at the slightest provocation and now they’re doing absolutely fuck-all. A total and complete embarrassment. Where’s the “swift retaliation”. I was assured that it would “come in seconds” and crickets. Looks like Supreme Leader bit off more than he could chew, not expecting that his empty threats would be revealed for what they are so quickly.
I’ll have fun watching your cope narratives be weaved in real time though.
