I'm a bit split about this series. On one hand it has great world buliding, solid cinematography and style, interesting places and encounters, and so on. But on the other the main story is very bland, mostly about teasing you with the unknown, the tone flips wildly between goofy and serious, and I can't really sympathize with any of the characters. Kinda lika a typical Bethesda game I suppose, but it's not really working for me as a TV series.
Amazing news! I was really worried they wouldn't get the tone of the fallout universe right in the show but they totally nailed it. From the props and locations to the soundtrack they really knocked it out of the park. I feel like the ending was a little meh, but I guess its just how they set it up for season 2.
Started watching this show because I saw a bunch of buzz about it. The show gave me a starship troopers type of show/movie vibes, goofy and silly, except the execution was awful. I like the aesthetic, but that's about it. Maybe I didn't like it because I'm not a fallout fan, or maybe because I read the Hiroshima book which tells a completely different definition of 'fallout'. I'm also on the side that Bethesda hasn't made a good game ever, but I was too young to play their earlier titles, and Todd Howard is a weasely little liar and a face of crap; my opinion based on the games he paraded at those advertising/award shows.
Anyways, one of the YouTube reviews recommended the show 'Silo', which has a similar premise. It's much better even though it has some crazy foundational lore that sets up the story.
