Thank you for the compliment!
I really don’t know, it’s a bit of an organic process. I usually start with a style or gimmick I’d like to use and go from there.
For this one I wanted to do a lego one because it seemed like fun and astronauts are very doable in lego.
At first I wanted to do a space madness kind of thing, where a human astronaut was slowly transforming into a lego character, but that was a bit too much to ask. So I figured let’s put a lego astronaut in a normal setting but make it an adventure. The cat was a logical next step :)
And I make a LOT of tries and variations with the prompt. But seeing all the weird and wonderful failed images is half the fun :)
Here’s a small selection of them
Edit: Forgot to say thank you. I was raised better than this :)
Hmmm, well I failed at this one. But on the plus side the result is funny.
"An astronaut is picking up samples on a strange planet, but the astronaut does not know that the planet is actually a very large sailor moon head" In the bingilator, 25 plus tries.
I picked this as the most original of the submissions for this contest. Even if you couldn't get exactly what you were going for, having a moonlet cosplaying as sailor moon was certainly unexpected!
This was my favorite submission of the contest, good job! I love it, so cute, so colorful, so surprising to see an animal as an astronaut at a dance party in space!
So, I started by trying 2-3 models and went for SDVN7-NijiStyle XL giving a cute lemming astronaut
Great, but that the cute guy missed the unexpected aspect, also I wanted to get some fun neon colour
so I went for the night club and added neon colour, got this one which was kinda neat
But the neon colour made me think about the rainbow flag colour, so I tried to get a pride flag on the image, put the US in negative prompt, and generated a lot of cool images.
Here is one with a flying flag
Here the whole suit is rainbow coloured, but the ears seems to pass through the helmet
That one is pretty neat, has all the needed colour but no clear flag
I think I did you a disservice with my theme description, I think all of your pictures would qualify as unexpected! I was a bit vague because I didn't wanna dampen creativity, but I fully considered "astronauts that aren't human" to be unexpected to a (hopefully) human audience.
Oh my god, now I remember Flickr! I've totally forgotten about them for years. I think I had an account there about.. 20 years ago?
Urgh, time just keeps marching on doesn't it?
Prompt: a photorealistic picture of an astronaut walking on the surface of the moon, seen from behind. you can see his steps in the moon dust. there's also a small crater. the astronaut encounters a huge black monolith similar to the iconic opening scene of the movie "2001 Odyssey in space". In the sky above there's a nebula and the sun. The image is somewhat grainy like a photograph.
The submissions are in and the results have been tabulated.
Everyone did an amazing job, but there can only be one two winners!
Congratulations to @thelsim@sh.itjust.works and @M0oP0o@mander.xyz who tied for first place!
Since thelsim got to choose the theme fairly recently, I'll make an executive decision and grant next week's theme to M0oP0o! Good luck, I hope you can choose better than I did 😜

That’s fine. I’d most likely would have done the same. @M0oP0o@mander.xyz, enjoy hosting the next challenge. I’ll happily participate again :)
We should probably make a rule about who gets to choose the next week's theme, if there is a tie for first or the winner already got to pick recently 🤔
