Actually both control the books. Book banning is more about the structure of the publishing industry and the ceding of copyrigths from authors to these entities than about outrigth bans.
A work would often get white washed once its sold. Even in the best of countries.
The problem is exacerbated because yankees are mostly illiterate so the market is small and prone to manipulation.
Americans are despite what they beeleve relativley homogenious and colectivist, so they are more easily swayed by such manipulations.
Cheap money since obama encourages monopolies in the economy at large.
