This site looks kinda weird. For one, it looks much more polished than any similar site I've seen so far. They have really good SEO as well, always popping up pretty high on Google. They have a massive selection of content.
How can they still be up?
What's the catch/what's wrong with them?
Also, what do they mean by "preinstalled"? The game isn't preinstalled if I have to install it from them, is it?
I remember it being blacklisted in Reddit's r/piracy megathread, supposedly they used IGG's cracks or something. I, however, never had any problems with them.
Tread with caution. Use steamrip.com or other safe sources if you can, and if you have to use this site, at least be wary, read comments and scan the fuck out of everything.
IGG is a cracking group with a mixed reputation. Early on they distributed malware, which continues to give them a negative reputation. Though, I haven’t heard of anything bad about them, in some time… some repackers also use their cracks, with no issues. I think they were the first that cracked the latest Armoured Core, for example.
Idk if any of you are old enough to remember NonSteamDown, an alternative Steam launcher that gave you access to all Valve's games (when the only games you could get through Steam were Valve's own titles). Completely unrelated to your question about Steamunlocked, it just triggered a core memory from my youth.
IGG is very toxic website that has a history of adding various types of malware (both web and games), including cryptominers.
It's higher on that list, even though for some reason it only highlights the (barely coherent) silliness that it has DRM.
I'm not know the nosteam website, it's odd that they mention it on the list but it's not listed.
IGG /nosteam uploads presumably means that they are the sources of the games. I don't know a huge amount about game piracy, but it sounds like IGG / nosteam are not trustworthy.
Pre-installed means that the game is already installed for you, so you don’t have to. This means all you need to do is download the .zip file, extract it, and run the game. That’s it! Easy, right?
Nah they call it pre-installed because you don't have to run an installation wizard yourself, which requires administrator permissions. So you could play those games on computers where you don't have admin access, like a school or work laptop
