Virtual Desktop now supports multiple monitors, including virtual extra monitors. But how many you can use at once depends on your headset.

How many monitors are supported depends on the headset. Meta Quest 3 is the only headset that can support 3 monitors at once. On Quest 2, Quest Pro, Pico 4, Pico Neo 3, Vive Focus 3, and Vive XR Elite only 2 monitors are supported.

This is a fantastic upgrade! Very useful to have a window dedicated to communication tools while playing a game in the other.
I’m sure it’s cool and all but why not just stare at actual screens? Virtual life is just no longer virtual enough it seems.
- Because you can create virtual monitors that don't exist in real life and do many other things you might not have the space for in VR
  
  "But why don't you just get a bigger room and more monitors then?"
  
  The optimal solution however is having programs float separately wherever you want in 3D space without having to be constrained to virtual "monitors".
- How about a 150 inch wall sized super ultrawide curved display?
