Best bits of theory to suggest a friend who feels like a failure to read for therapeutical reasons?
They're feeling like a failure because of job shit and if they get fired they're probably gonna get deported back after their family spent essentially their entire life savings (and more?) to support them studying abroad
So far I got:
Industrial Reserve Army (Reserve Army of Labor)
Tendency for Rate of Profit to fall (to understand increasing exploitation of workers)
I want to try and keep things light

I read this when I was like 12 years old or smth so I forgot everything, why would this be helpful again and how, out of curiosity
It's the first thing I thought of. It's light, its funny, it forces the reader into an unfamiliar perspective, could be therapeutic...
It's about a guy who is cast into situations beyond his, or anyone's control.
Also, somewhere, it contains this quote -
“This planet has - or rather had - a problem, which was this: most of the people living on it were unhappy for pretty much of the time. Many solutions were suggested for this problem, but most of these were largely concerned with the movement of small green pieces of paper, which was odd because on the whole it wasn't the small green pieces of paper that were unhappy.”
Maybe not so much theory as an escape from normality and a chance to re-evaluate priorities.
I dunno, I just think it's neat.
