Musk predicted Tesla would reach a $25 trillion market cap thanks to robotics.
Elon Musk envisions a future where his Optimus robot becomes a personal companion, capable of babysitting kids, teaching them, and even performing tasks like factory work. He imagines a robot that can learn from videos and execute tasks on its own, even playing the piano. With a promised "radical" increase in autonomy, Musk predicts that Optimus will be able to understand and respond to voice commands, making it a reliable and trustworthy companion. While the robot's current capabilities fall short of its competitors, Musk's ambitious goals suggest a future where humanoid robots like Optimus become an integral part of daily life, potentially outnumbering humans and achieving a market cap of $25 trillion.
Elon's own children hate him. He's probably not the best person to guage whether a robot is capable of interacting with a child or not, let alone educate them.
Sure thing, but this community's purpose is to record developments in AI companionship, regardless of who's behind them. The Optimus robots have significant relevance and implications for this field.
"Elon Musk was all smiles during the Tesla shareholder’s meeting.
“It’s, you know, your companion, it can be at your house, it can sort of babysit your kids, it could teach them... be a teacher. It, you know, it can do factory stuff,” Musk said while describing the robot on Thursday.
Musk went on to say Optimus would be like having your own personal robot from the Star Wars franchise."
When are people going to stop falling for this bullshit? Musk's only real skill is bullshitting to increase stock price, so he can continue his infantile fantasy of being The Richest Man. That's all he really cares about.
I'll believe that humanoid robots will be a thing, but for auto manufacture on an assembly line, I have a hard time seeing how they're significantly better than the existing industrial robot arms. It just seems like an unnecessary technological risk.
