Except that's the whole idea of free speech. Others are free to react to it how they wish. I may boycott Hobby Lobby and Chick-fil-A, while an idiot might boycott Bud Light and anyone "woke," but we can both be doing so while defending free speech.
An onion article like this works both ways and implies that leftists are opposed to free speech if we choose to boycott people and organizations that empower the right and oppress others. I think that the message just has to be "free speech has consequences and is still worth practicing and defending, even if those consequences are often imposed by the ignorant." Boycotting is one of the let's best tools, too, and we should be using it often.
