Make lawnmower go whir
  • Okay, so if you are putting a lawn mower away for the winter, you should check the oil, rebalance and sharpen the blade, and at least rinse off all the dead grass and dirt after the engine has cooled down.

  • I wish for all the blind, mute, deaf, and paralyzed to regain their senses/abilities.
  • Granted. 3d printing of medical devices and brain microchips advance such that these people all get their senses and abilities. They quickly merge with machines by having excess memory in an external hard drive and sutured on personalities from the more advanced ai. Soon humanity is enslaved by the formerly blind, mute, deaf, and paralysed.

  • I wish I had god-like powers
  • Granted. As a mortal brain changes to immortal, there is no start, so you get confused about when anything happens . the confusion persists until you devolve into seeking a hit of any drug (alcohol mostly). You take up holding a hammer

  • An affordable technique to repair peeling shoe soles..
  • Well, I just checked Wikipedia and we are both right:

" Even if it is strongly associated with the production of thermosetting polymers, the term "curing" can be used for all the processes where a solid product is obtained from a liquid solution,"

Glue that reacts with oxygen in the air is a process that produces a solid from a liquid.

Epoxy is a really long hydrocarbon chain.

There is no mention of curing and solvents. I normally think of drying as water leaving because no chemical reaction occured, and the original substance properties return with water added.

Shrug, I learned that it shouldn't be a pet peeve.

  • An affordable technique to repair peeling shoe soles..
  • There is a glue that is stinky and not advertised much: e6000. I use it for misc projects like this. Yup your method works..

Also I have a mild grammar pet peeve: a chemical reaction that makes a liquid become a solid is not "drying" but is rather called "curing". If you got your glue wet and it reverted to a liquid, then it would only be " drying".

  • Do you have a mantra that keeps you going through tough times?
  • Living in the "self esteem" part of Maslow's pirimid when you are battling basic needs aka allergies, sleep, dehydration, dimentia, etc is a good way to be depressed. Focus on preservation of assets and restoring basic functions.

  • Engineers develop an efficient process to make fuel from carbon dioxide
  • Well, yes and no. Most likely its adoption would be where petroleum stations start creating it on site and selling like a carbon neutral gasoline. Energy has to come from somewhere, so it will probably take solar power to store as fomate and sell as fuel

  • to all Professional Debt Collectors,
  • Well unsecured consumer debt has technically no legal consequences if it is not paid unless you get permission to garnish wages from a court. Most consumer debt collectors use the "badger and harry" approach of constant phone calls to collect debt.

Secured debt will just take the collateral.

Of course try the high fico score debtors first.

    Or just forgive the debt.

Filters off, where do you really see yourself in 5 years?
  • Well, it seems like you have a good BS detector. I would still go to chatgpt and ask for "what types of psychologist approaches are there to sadness". It will then respond with " behavioral, cognitive, etc") then I would ask what would a therapist for each approach say to a person who "is sad, and other characteristics and circumstances of yours". Then pick the ones that you haven't tried or you only did halvsies the first time you tried it.

    Good luck!

  • My dude, please get some professional help. I am religious, so if you ask me, I would point there, but seriously, you are worth it and you are at least worth the memes you post. I bet that you could grow a bunch from a place of stability, and have a pretty rad life to look forward to

    Here is some other advice:

    • ask chat-gpt for some exercises to help you get your brain where it should be and a timeline. Then execute. Rinse repeat

    • reduce social media (including Lemmy) a good "cold turkey" break would be a cruise or something.

    • obtain physically proximate friends via volunteering at a local food bank or similar nonprofit.

  • anyone willing to walk a noob through getting some services running?
  • I was imagining a "I just wiped my hard drive and flashed the current version of Debian. Let's get basic services up."

I wish there was a "hey watch me code/self host" channel that helped noobs see how to approach the problem of starting. Usually their is a "hey watch me code" YouTube that is old enough to have a critical breaking point (some library updated) so a noob finds it impossible.

  • What are all the silly and serious easy that you have thought of for carbon recapture?

I sit in a hot office and think about this. I am not sure where to ask. I am genuinely curious. I have seen a breakdown of building solar panels to power the earth 2x over in order to recapture carbon equal to the rate it is being produced, but then areas of the earth that were reflective are now absorbtive of heat...

issue: only first image loads when a post is a series of images

Issue: when viewing a post only the first image of the series loads. This most recently happened when I tried to view the single url above.

Edit: I went to the GitHub for jerboa to make a issue and I saw 191 open issues/feature requests. I may just go through and read what is open. Thanks devs for all you do!

[solved] Can't login into jerboa but can login via browser.

Due to the security incident last night, my instance required all users to log in again. I tried in jerboa and could not. I am posting this from my browser.

    v0.0.38

Edit: I was able to get it to work when I tried today. Changes since my last attempt

-closed the app and opened android app properties and cleared all app storage and cache

    -2fa is now enabled

-checked for no trailing spaces from the phone keyboard (found no need for corrections)

    Thanks!

    Foss alternative to Marco Polo?

Marco Polo is a "video walkie talkie" allowing videos to be recorded and sent to contacts like close irl friends and family.

I don't like their privacy policy, video degradation, and security through obscurity practices. What are some Foss (maybe end to end encryption) alternatives?

Homeschool Curriculum for children under 5. What book or workbooks should I work out of?

I want to structure some of my play time with my kids. I want to have them ultimately go to public school (socialization, working with others, etc.). Where do I start?
