What I was trying to say was that I'm happy to be free of Microsoft's ability to just sunset an operating system version that I liked and replace it with an even more privacy-disrespecting, ad and AI-bloated nightmare.
Nobara is at least under my control in a significant way. Windows, like so many other software solutions these days wants to treat me like cattle and I want no part in that.
#NobaraGang. I gave Mint a go a few years ago and just never really got anywhere close to replacing my Windows install.
I've gotten 90% of all use cases handled by Nobara at this point. The main outlier being my sim racing setup just because according to forums the drivers for all the peripherals are just really not ready for adoption yet. My sim rig will stay on Windows for now as the whole reason I invested in a proper cockpit and peripherals was to reduce the friction involved with enjoying the sims. Also, anti-cheat seems to be a no-go on Linux for now so as an iRacing enjoyer, Linux is out of the question for the time being.
That said, my entire home studio for recording (incl. Hardware peripherals), my daily driver use case and all my other gaming needs are currently met by Nobara. I'm so happy to be able to end my reliance on Microsoft.

Why the fuck would I ever want to listen to a fucking robot while I watch the Olympics, or anything for that matter?
Buy dumb TVs. Make your next phone a Pixel and install Graphene OS. Ditch Windows/MacOS for Linux. Use ProtonMail. Run a Pi-Hole on your network. Do anything you can to take control of your digital footprint in any way.
Don't let corporations freely suck your data dry and exploit your life for profit while force feeding you their elaborate fakery. Its impossible to insulate yourself from it all but any step towards digital privacy is the right step to take.
100%. I just bought a Pixel 8 so I could install Graphene OS. It was so damn easy too. I was amazed. This phone is great minus the lack of headphone jack and SD card slot.
None of those tools has ever made a full releasable track for anyone, just like the tape machine never created music out of nowhere.
It happens when your girlfriend is extremely unstable by default, even more so after a fight, comes to your parents house drunk in the middle of the night and essentially shames you for trying to reject her advances while simultaneously being physical about it by forcing you down and assuming you're playing some mind game while you try your best to avoid waking your parents in the next room and making a scene cause she's being loud and borderline belligerent. The sheer embarassment is enough for personal boundaries to get absolutely stomped on in that situation.

I'm not using Linux in any enterprise capacity, but the compatibility improvements I've seen since the last time I tried out a distro for fun are immense.
So immense infact that I'm migrating all my home studio and gaming stuff over to Linux and making it my official daily driver via Nobara.
I'm honestly amazed by how well music production software and hardware works on Linux now. I'm so relieved because I thought this whole Windows enshittification thing was just another part of my life where I seemingly have no control over being made into a product and having all of my data sold constantly.
A recent migration to GrapheneOS and this new discovery of Linux's amazing capabilities for my use case are such a breath of fresh air. I now have the choice to reject the exploitative practices of these tech companies that have zero respect for people and that makes me happy.
The more we use and recommend Linux the more of a chance we get of first party support in the future!

The rumour I heard is that McDonalds snaked Tim's coffee supplier so a massive shift in quality occurred that they haven't seemed to recover from
Tim Horton's certainly can hit the spot but the quality has been on a steady decline for about 15 years now. Their menu used to be very simple; coffee and assorted café style drinks, bakery treats, and soup and sandwich. All very simple, yet effective as the ingredients were of reasonable quality and the coffee was consistently good.
Nowadays the diversification of the menu has gotten so extreme that they can barely do any single thing right. Coffee is often burnt as machines are calibrated too hot, machines not properly rinsed after cleaning resulting in an oil slick of soap and chemicals floating in your coffer (personal experience), donuts and breads are often stale or poorly made... For years their breakfast menu's egg was not egg at all. "Cheese and onion egg-like product" was what was on the box. Only recently have they moved to using real egg which has had a massively positive effect on the breakfast menu's quality.
Tim's can be good. In Canada, its often that its not. I live in a town of ~50,000. This town has more Tim Horton's than Ottawa with over 1M people. Tim's has a cult-like following around here. Not sure why after the years of mediocrity.

I'm very new to Linux. Currently tinkering with Nobara and wanted to install st. I was able to successfully install it last night but when I started attempting to patch it for customization purposes I think I messed something up. I had needed to remove st multiple times and re-install so I could start fresh and fix my errors. Now when I attempt to run make clean install I get a host of errors related to packages that are installed but can't seem to be found?

What I'm looking for are mouse skates that create the feel of a mouse on a mouse pad. All the skates I'm seeing are for ultra low friction when used on a mouse pad. Basically, I want to get rid of the need for a mouse pad on my desk for aesthetic and practical reasons and am hoping that someone knows about a set of mouse skates that would facilitate this.
My heart nearly beat out of my chest on this one! We were already down a player since the start of the game so this match was an uphill battle from the start. We ended up winning the game which felt amazing. This round is the cherry on top.

I was able to play on the day I installed the feature but ever since I haven't been able to log into Project Rome in-game to play online.

After following the instructions provided by NewPipe to download my subscriptions list for import, I get a .zip file with nothing but an HTML file within. No data related to subscriptions at all. If I opt to download an export containing all my Youtube data, then I get a couple of folders for History and another data subset but nothing for subscriptions.
I thought at first this may have been an issue related to the private status of my subscriptions list on my Youtube account, but even after toggling privacy off for my subs, I still cannot get a .zip from Youtube containing a .csv of my subscriptions.
Has anyone else had this issue?

Just curious. I'm hearing that a lot of people are using various apps with Lemmy but I'm having such a good experience with the browser version that I don't understand the point of adding an additional layer via an app in between my access to the service. I'd love to hear people's opinions about the pros and/or cons to using an app vs. the browser. [EDIT] I should specify that 90% of my usage is on my phone.
