  • This was true for me too. A big part they left out was that you would need to develop skills for the career you wanted - whether that happened in school or not. If your career interest is in computers, but your education interests are in medieval history, make sure you have some computer skills to offer future employers and let your degree put you at the top of the candidate pool.

But still yeah this whole process was screwed from the start. Everybody has degrees now and most careers use it as a barrier to entry rather than a leg up.

  • Over 20,000 Saved by Owl Rescue Centre!
  • I just scrolled through your post and comment history - you spend a lot of time on here. I mean damn, you might be responsible for most of the content on superbowl.

In any case, the woman shown in your pictures is one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen and apparently she also rescues owls and works with animals. She's amazing. Tell her that for me.

  • Density saves nature
  • These threads are full of people making the straight-up weakest arguments for destroying nature...

    "...but privacy and noise!"

Ugh, just take all that money you would have spent on the ridiculous driveways, extra lengths of road, utilities, and lawn care and put it into higher quality building materials for the apartments/townhouses.

We build crap quality places in the US and all I hear from my fellow countrymen is "we can't (or don't want to) do it any other way".

  • If only there was a way to get all of those people there and back home without a car.
  • Yeah the Metra is a commuter rail - it runs to and from the city and suburbs. It doesn't run all night long - few, if any, commuter rail lines would waste enormous amounts of cash to run that way.

The suburbs are shit. If you want reliable transportation day and night, you need population density to support it. Ergo - you need to live in an actual city - not suburban sprawl.

  • Taylor Swift endorses Kamala Harris
  • Yeah I actually thought she wouldn't ever officially do it unless it was being timed and pre planned to occur just after the debate in order to have maximum impact. Which - I would guess that it was. Not that it's a bad thing.

Anyway I didn't think she would because I'm certain she lost some fans tonight - deciding to step into this race in such a major way. And the cynic in me thought she was more interested in money and wouldn't risk her image. I'm glad I was wrong.

  • Say the line
  • This thread seems to be downplaying the effectiveness of guns. Obviously, given the cancerous gun culture being what it is, there's no way I'll be able to convince anyone who's already decided that guns aren't a problem.

Just for the rest of the world, I'm just going to point out that there are sane folks here in the US who fully recognize that guns are definitely the problem and aren't going to point to the ludicrous notion of "a car or a bomb" as the next obvious substitute for firearms mowing down children in classrooms across the country.
