Removal of piracy communities
  • Just make an account on a different instance. That’s a lot easier than making one of your own.

    I’d recommend either Sh.itjust.works, sopuli.xyz, Lemmy.ca, or Lemmy.dbzer0.com.

Sopuli is primarily Finnish, and Lemmy.ca Canadian, but both state that they’re open and welcoming to all.

    I’m on sh.itjust.works and it’s been great.

  • Lemmy.ca users have been saying that anyone’s welcome, regardless of where they’re from. Sopuli.xyz is really solid too, and also welcomes everyone.

I’m on sh.it just.works and have enjoyed it a lot. At the end of the day it doesn’t matter a whole lot though, you can still join all the communities you did before. So which instance you choose isn’t a massive deal.

  • Believe it or not, I do respect their decision. After all, this is their instance and it’s their right to decide what to do with it.

This is also a complete overreaction started by a transphobic troll account, that doesn’t actually protect anyone from anything. Both can be true.

  • Discussing piracy isn’t illegal. It would be one thing if they were hosting pirated content, but they don’t even link to anything.

If that were to change I’d understand the decision, but this just seems silly to me.
