XBPS has spoiled me - advice needed.
  • I never took a swing at musl, though I did kick it around a few times. I used my laptop for work for years and couldn't afford to lose options for some apps. The gloves are off now :)

  • Ah Chimera. I've been looking at that the last two days. I am really tempted to give it a shot. My laptop is mostly for playing around these days. Are you running it?

I forgot about Arch. I ran Manjaro for a year and didn't have the best experience. 'Course I was pretty green on Linux then.

One of the few things that differentiates the major distros is the package manager. I've been running void on my laptop for the last 3 years and love it. XBPS is super fast and easy to use. It has never left me with a broken system either. That said, I've got the itch to switch.

I am looking at rolling / up to date distros. I'm inclined to use CLI when available.

I've been considering Opensuse, but last time I used zypper it was painfully slow. Has it gotten any better?

I was thinking of trying Alpine, how is APK?

Not interested in *butu, but apt seemed okay.

What's your favorite and how does it behave?

Who here uses a less popular Linux distribution? What made you choose it?
  • Void is just soo good.

    • Runit is super simple and makes sense to me. - I get to build the distro the way I want it.
    • I've learned a ton about the inner workings of Linux using Void for the last 3 years.
    • You're right about packages, but I've not had issues as I've found flatpacks or appimages for anything not offered.
    • Xbps has spoiled me. I HATE using almost every other package manager. They're all so slow and cumbersome.
  • Trump Claims His ‘Seal of Approval’ Will ‘Protect Loyal Donors From Scammers’ — Here’s What It Looks Like
  • I hope he keeps sapping the RNC until there's nothing left for them to do but sue him and kick him to the curb.

Then, he is found guilty of scamming all these rubes and he has to cut millions of 5 dollar checks. Oh, and pays the RNC lawyer fees because why not.

  • Trump stiffed his alleged co-conspirators, whose false claims brought in $250 million
  • I am shocked. SHOCKED!

This dude is a notorious deadbeat. How these idiots didn't demand the money up front serves as further proof that they're idiots.

Maybe they were promised some seat near the throne of their illustrious leader after the insurrection. Now they're indicted... LOL.

  • How do I setup my name for posts in other instances?

I see a lot of users who post have @nameblah@instancetheiraccountison, which I think is very handy when posting in other instances. Did I miss a step in my account setup? How do I set my name up in the same manor? TIA
