Roger Stone Caught on Tape Discussing Trump’s Plan to Challenge 2024 Election
  • Did you read the second point i made? I quite literally said that the dems are center right. Anyways, i havent heard of dems authoring or pushing fascist legislation. I have heard of and live through the dems doing fuck all about it though, so my point of view is that i have 2 options. Fascists that push money to wall street, and do-nothings that push money to wall street. If its my only option ill take it. But fuck biden.

  • Roger Stone Caught on Tape Discussing Trump’s Plan to Challenge 2024 Election
  • I agree that both sides are just funneling money into wall street and dont care about the average person, but what do you mean by fasciam with a pride flag? The right has been actively undermining freedoms for 8+ years now. At least 8 years in plain view. What has "the left" even done to resemble any kind of fascism in your eyes?

I used quotes there because i feel its important to keep it clear that the american left in main stage politics is much closer to a center, right leaning party on a grander scale.

  • SpaceX's Starlink May Be Keeping the Ozone From Healing, Research Finds
  • Idk, i think SpaceX is catching a lot of heat just because they have musk "at the helm". He doesnt even do anything there, he isnt an aerospace engineer. They just let him sit in mission control so he can feel special. The actual work spacex is doing is revolutionary. Reuseable rockets are a seriously groundbreaking development. Almost everything you do these days relies on a sattelite connection, so doing that cheaper, more reliably, and less wastefully is massive.

Starlink is a different matter tho, its just another ISP but with a fancy connection method.

  • Boeing's Starliner spacecraft detects leaks on journey to ISS
  • Theres no reason to assume that. I also hate boeing with everything thats going on right now but I trust NASA to be responsible with peoples lives. Also, with this as well as the cost of this spacecraft I dont see boeing getting much more government money here. Starliner cost roughly double that of the dragon. Just not worth it.

  • Boeing's Starliner spacecraft detects leaks on journey to ISS
  • AFAIK helium is only used to prepare the fuel and oxidizer lines for burns and to backfill propellant tanks. Liquid propellant has to be kept extremely far below zero and if the lines aren't 1, down to apropriate temperatures and 2, clear of anything that isnt rocket fuel it can cause some serious damage so helium is a purging gas. Also as the propellant is used they have to keep the fuel tanks pressurized with helium to maintain a higher pressure upstream of the engine. You dont want an engine to burn backwards.

That being said, this mission wasnt slated to take extremely long or be particularly complex (im aware oribital mechanics are by default complex but its just a mission to and from the ISS, no midflight reconfigurations like the saturn missions).

Mission control is full of engineers who know this rocket better than anyone else ever will. If they had reason to believe a small complication isnt worth worrying about we have no choice but to believe them. There are so many systems in place for a rocket launch, there has to be some wiggle room in terms of non critical systems and issues. Its kind of a morbid fact that if we dont launch until it's 100% perfect nothing would leave florida.

  • Giving Windows total recall is a privacy minefield
  • This is something that steve jobs talked about in an interview that I cannot find at the moment. Its ironic coming from him, but he was talking about when a company truly begins to die. His theory was that when a company is founded, the people that made and designed the product/service are in positions of power. But as a company grows and lives on they get replaced with marketing people. They dont know how to make anything, but they do have that "line go up" mentality. Instead of making something better, the marketing and sales people find ways to sell worse things. Again, hilarious coming from him but i think he had a point.

  • New Windows AI feature records everything you’ve done on your PC
  • I have a 4060ti, swapped over to endeavour (arch with gui (btw)) after some previous microsoft fuckery. Damn near everything worked out of the box. The only issue that i had, that i still cant fix, is getting wayland working. Xorg works perfectly fine, but wayland is just the future. Nvidia started releasing driver updates for linux that'll make it start working easier tho.

Ive used computers for my whole life so i know not everyone will share my experience with linux. But trouble shooting on windows was so much worse for me. Looking at depreciated forum posts, wishing i was back on windows 7, searching through weird, halfway redundant menus (how many device management menus are there???) And so on. So much of the system gets in your way because it doesnt trust you. With linux its as simple as googling your problem, some guy had the same issue 3 years ago and his fix still works. You go to the terminal and its like

    do this

    are you sure?

    sudo do this

And then the problems gone (except for wayland, i know). Its great.

    Edit: i got wayland working.

  • Twelve years after the death of Steve Jobs, the cracks are starting to appear at Apple
  • Im not praising musk, and i really think he fucked up his lead on twitter and tesla, but he is very much similar to jobs. Neither musk nor jobs have done really any of the engineering work, but both have had their hands in some pretty remarkable tech. Musk with paypal, spacex, tesla. Again, im not saying hes a good engineer, he hasnt done anything, but to discredit those companies is unfair.

  • Putin says he is ready for nuclear war against West
  • Call me naive but i think even if he goes to push the button either someone else will stop him or the guy who actually launches the missile wont do it. AFAIK he doesnt have a launch button, but a "ok to launch" button, and theres a surprising history of people refusing to do so even when ordered.

Not to downplay the severity or anything, putin is a madman the world is better off without. Im worried he'll continue his warpath, but not worried he'll destroy the world if that makes sense.

  • Star Citizen's first-person shooting is getting backpack-reloading, dynamic crosshairs, procedural recoil, and other improvements to 'bring the FPS combat to AAA standard'

This is from a quick search of "what is star citizen still missing" in DuckDuckGo. Not all of these have been promised since day one, and maybe not everything is accurate. But seriously, the guy at the helm is at best a con-man. After raising an ungodly amount of money to make a game, its still in pretty serious development. To still be feverishly defending this is ridiculous. He's promising you lemonade and giving you piss.

  • Ultrasound can push vaccines into the body without needles
  • Probably not, theres been some needleless vaccines before that did ok. If anyone has done time in the military you're probably familiar. Also any loss in efficacy could probably just be offset with higher concentrations

  • News: McConnell says he's 'fine' after freezing during news conference | CNN Politics
  • I think you're on a false moral highground. I used to be up there with you, saying stuff like this feels like the right thing to say. Its civil, its kind, and it has no place in modern politics. He is barely a human in my eyes. He lacks any and all compassion and will sell out his state the second that he can, and has done so before. He is a lying pile of grease and greed that has no place in the world.
