It happens 🤷
  • I've been delaying moving my root arch patition from my HDD to overwrite my old windows install on my SSD for months.

I feel like the potential problems that that could cause aren't worth the better loading times from the SSD.

  • What's your favorite music player on Linux?
  • cmus is great, it checks all my boxes, and is much easier to work with than mpd imo. The only downside for me is that I can't see any of the cover art :(

  • What is the weirdest/strangest thing you find comfort in?
  • When I wake up while it's still dark in the morning, I can hear the sound of trains in the distance. Specifically no horns or anything, just the sound of the engines / metal on tracks.

Bonus points because it was lightly raining today.

  • raytracing rule
  • Celeste still has really nice lighting in places, imo, but you are right, it all just comes from good colour choice and artistic skill, not some premade graphics option that they flipped on.

  • What game do you play to just chill?
  • Spend hours downloading / messing with proton / configuring, and then play for 15 minutes...

At this point I'm almost convinced I just like the setup process.

    Otherwise probably quake.

  • What's the biggest change you would like to see in computing/tech?
  • Honestly, just less waste. Wasted time, wasted hardware, etc. We spend so much time building devices that are meant to break, and be unfixable,, and making software that fights the user instead of helping. All in the name of profits or something.

We could be making so many cool things, but instead we're going back and forth not making any progress.

  • Learn GNU awk with hundreds of examples and exercises
  • I just told myself earlier today that I should learn how to actually use awk, rather that copying from the internet. Thanks for this!

  • Rule
  • how is Lemmy going for you?
  • When I sort by All I see 90% of what I would be looking for on other sites, so it's a drop in replacement (at least for now). I spend less time overall on lemmy, but the time I do spend is less mindless scrolling, and more actually interesting posts.

  • what is your favorite f-droid app?
  • Yeah. Termux is really useful to quickly ssh into something without having to go to my pc.

  • rplace.live - An open source faithful recreation of r/place
  • We made a dispenser and bonk.

  • is it just me or GitHub is turning into some sort of LinkedIn
  • This could be what you're looking for. Their main implementation is a gitea fork, but I've seen mentions of gitlab as well. Unfortunately I don't think github would ever consider being compatible, that would just lose them users.

  • Breezy Weather - A Fork of the Outdated but Excellent Geometric Weather
  • You can use Obtainium to get updates straight from github for apps that aren't on f-droid yet.

  • That would definitely be worth 40$.
  • The prophecy has been fulfilled.

  • YSK how to pick a ripe, sweet watermelon
  • This is one of those things that I'll save and then never use.

  • 1% rule: 1% of users actively create new content, while the other 99% only lurk.
  • I'm normally a lurker but I try to contribute stuff for the sake of the fediverse.

  • Discussion: Lemmy Apps galore! Share your thoughts on them and what comes next!
  • I was originally using Jerboa, but scrolling was really laggy for some reason so I ended up switching to Liftoff and it's been much better.

  • Does this count?

I'm trying out the miryoku layout. Let's see if I last more than 30 seconds.
